Bee Pollen
Bee pollen is not the same as allergy-causing pollen that is carried by the wind. It is actually the male seed of a flower blossom which are collected by the honey bees and mixed with the bees’ digestive enzymes.
Bee pollen is low in calories but rich in proteins, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, beneficial fatty acids, carbohydrates, and bioflavonoids which are anti-viral, and antibacterial.
Bee pollen is available at many health food stores. You may find bee pollen in other natural dietary supplements, as well as in skin softening products used for baby’s diaper rash or eczema. You may also hear recommendations for using bee pollen for alcoholism, asthma, health maintenance, or stomach problems, but there is no proof that it helps with these conditions.
Because pollen is a naturally derived substance, its exact composition can vary greatly. Please use in moderation or consult a physician before deciding to use it topically or ingest.
